The use of horses was a critical element. I don't think the adoption was a critical element. So eliminate D.

Dated by some historians during early Ottoman rule. This sounds like historians in the early Ottoman period dated it. Eliminate C and E.

A has "which some historians date during early Ottoman rule." I don't agree with this, maybe it is correct.

"Have thought to occur during early Ottoman rule" sounds much better. My gut goes with B.
