a. in requiring better working conditions in factories
b. as far as requiring better working conditions in factories
c. in their requirement that factories should have better working conditions
d. as far as requiring that factories should have better working conditions
e. to require factories to have better working conditons

Hello Chaitanya,

Definitely B and D are out because of the redundant phrasing: how far & as far as.
I would eliminate C due to the wordiness.

I would choose A over E because A is simpler and "sounds" better.
...in requiring [x] in [y]
is a simpler way to carry the idea across than
...to require [y] to have [x].

In all fairness, E doesn't seem to have any grammatical errors, which makes it a tempting answer.
We have to remember though, that the GMAT wants the most efficient and effective sentence. Efficient in the number of words, and effective in clearly transmitting the meaning without any doubts.

A is better than E because of clear meaning.........

E tells of factories having better working conditions

but the question stem talks about having better working conditions in factories.
