The teratomas are unusual forms of cancer not because they are composed of tissues such as tooth and bone but because the tissues such as tooth and bone ( or like tooth and bone) are not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears.

WHAT I AM SAYING IS THAT not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears. is an essential modifier.
If we end the sentence in
Teratomas are unusual forms of cancer because they are composed of tissues such as tooth and bone
The meaning remains incomplete

My doubt is abt the OA which makes it seem that the "essential modifier according to me" at the end is not important.
I have asked an expert to help on this , though we can have discussions.This is a new thread that i created.There is another thread existing in the forum too.

What are not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears? The tissues that the teratoma is composed of. So the modifying phrase not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears needs to be next to the noun tissues. Eliminate A and D.

The correct answer is E.

A modifying phrase should be as close as possible to what it's modifying. The incorrect placement of the modifying phrase in A suggests that tooth and bone are not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears. The incorrect placement in D suggests that their composition is not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears.

How do we know whether the the author is referring to tissues similar to tooth and bone but not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears.Maybe tooth and bone are normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears.

According to the SC, the teratomas are unusual. It wouldn't make sense to say that they are unusual because they are like or similar to something else. To convey the meaning that you suggest, perhaps the SC would say:

The teratoma is an unusual form of cancer because it is composed of tissues that, despite their similarities to tooth and bone, are not normally found in the organ in which the tumor appears.
