Target GMAT score for Wharton ??

by sam77 » Mon Oct 27, 2008 10:35 pm
I have read that universities try to diversify their MBA classes. Like, they would choose the top scoring indians, the top scoring chinese etc. Though, the admission depends on a lot of factors, including your exeprience etc., but rest all being equal, would anyone know, what can be the average GMAT score for indians admitted to Wharton, let's say with 4-5 years experience? I am sure, it is higher then the (US News) average score 712 for Wharton :-)
Thanks a lot,

Dear sam77,

Schools do not break down GMAT scores or other measures by subgroups, so there is no way to definitely know (unless you work in Wharton's admissions office). However, I would venture to guess that the applicants from India that are offered admission probably have GMAT scores over a 700. There might be a few in the 670-700 range, but most probably fall over a 700.

Regards,
Lisa

Thank you Lisa,
I was concerned because of this Interview with Graham Richmond - Former Admissions Consultant from Wharton.
He mentioned "For example, if you're a male engineer from India, you're competing against a lot of people with similar backgrounds and your GMAT score will therefore be that much more important in distinguishing you as an applicant."
