Switch between DS/PS with correct /incorrect

Hi

I've observed a strange pattern while taking tests and its bothering me quite a bit.

I've noticed that whenever I answer incorrect in the quant section - it switches the type of question ( DS to PS and vice versa). So, if I answer a DS wrong, it switches to PS and if I answer a PS wrong, it goes to DS. Is this standard Gmat behavior or something I've only observed.
