First survey talks about "subscribers", while second survey talks about "people"

Hence, the subscribers are subset of people who bought the merchandize.

Answer is (E). But I still didn't get the logic. Can you put more light on the solution.

Hi codesnooker,

The magazine survey says that only 30 % of the people who responded to the add were lesser than 35. It means 70 % of the people who placed the order were greater than 35years.

How ever the add agency says that many of the most of the responsed were placed by people under 35 . How could this be ?

Eg : out of 10 people who responded let 3 people be lesser than 35 and 7 people be greater than 35 .

Assume 20 people who did not subscribe and who were below 35 years placed the order. The magazine survey would have no clue of these people.

Now the stastics changes
no of people under 35 = subscribers + non subscribers = 3 + 20 = 23.
no of people above 35 = 7.

So the add agency would say most of the ppl who responded where below 35 years.

Hope u can understand,

Regards,
Vignesh
