I am bit way off between conclusion and "must be true"' types. I am assuming this to be "Must be true" type and giving my undertstanding.

Plz notethe key word "deep-seated difference: a majority of the members of the class of 1982 .

Comparision is made between students of 1964 &1984. Must be true types has to directly follow from the contents of the stem

So author intends that students of 1982 differed from that students of 1964 in a certain way.. So what is that way??
yes.. Majority of 1984 brats are interested in good income.

So the direct opposite is fewer than majority of 1962 brats would have declared them as earning good income is not their important reason...
