i`ll try to say something
A) for sure wrong.like doesn`t work with verb, also wrong comparison:like x, y.....
also i don`t like tences here, it seems like the sun has already exhausted ...and is expanding, i think future tence is more valid here
B)again wrong comparison: like X,Y. X and Y must be as close as possible. it better to compare Star with another star or with the sun, but not star with hydrogen
once and then together are excessive
also B says that hydrogen expands into a red giant, but it must be sun`core that expads
C)again hydrogen expands into a red giant, must be sun
and also i am not sure that we can employ construction:as in the case .....with out verb, to me as is (was)(will) in the case.... is better
D)hydrogen expands.....,
so left with E

"as in the case" means

"as the sun expand in the case of similar mass star"
