Hi! Friends,

I started my preparation for Gmat in July 2010, till now i was focusing on Math section and in Verbal only on CR, But now i realize that time has come when i have to work on my sentence correction, I started with some small quiz but my score was very bad infect i hardly able to answer any question correctly. with that my interest in SC section is decreasing day by day, because most of the times when i read the explanation of any answer, its very tough for me to understand even the simpler ones, So i don't know How to approach this section?

I know its not easy to master this topic but i think if i want at least a manageable score in verbal. i need to answer at least to answer 50% of the sentence correction question's correctly.

I am not from CBSE board, I am always been running away from English books and novels . Till now i never realized that it can stuck my life forever. So guys please suggest me some thing with which i can start and get the motivation to do it, till I don't get it right. Because i think as i am not able to understand the rules and explanation's of answers, it's very hard for me to get involved into something in which you are losing all the time.

Well,you got to love SC,CR and RC if you want to be in your dream MBA college. Without verbal skills and love for it ,you can't survive b-school. Unlike Technical degrees like MS,MBA relies heavily on verbal skills.So you got to take verbals by its horns.
More you run away from it,more it will haunt you.Mind GMAT verbal is one of the toughest in the world,other being LSAT.

So start you prep with small small things.Keep your goals like for every 10 OG questions you will get atleast 4 questions right(Initially i used to get only 2 right.lol).These small achievements will motivate you for bigger goals.And hopefully soon you will start loving verbals.

Hi goyalsau,

SC can definitely be tough, especially for non-native English speakers. I don't know if you saw these tips on the BTG homepage but if not, check them out: Top 10 SC tips. Hopefully they'll be helpful to you!

Also check out 5 bad habits on the SC section for what NOT to do when you're taking the test.

And finally, as RyanDark said, keep at it! Once you begin to identify the different types of questions - and the different strategies they each require - your work will become gradually easier.
