I know b-schools now technically take both, but i'm pretty sure that top b-schools still highly prefer the GMAT. The GRE for one is a lot easier than the GMAT. I'm taking both since i'm planning on doing a joint degree in mba and policy. If my GMAT score isn't that great, but my GRE is awesome, should i still submit both to b-schools and let adcom make an assessment, or just submit the GRE? Any idea how adcom would look at such a split?

If your GRE score is higher, just submit it. If admissions offices say they accept the GRE or the GMAT, they truly mean this.

Quick update: I took the GRE today and scored 165 quant, 162 verbal. I believe the percentiles corresponding to those scores are 92 and 89, although i'm not entirely sure. The ETS is constantly revising the percentile charts.

The GRE verbal is more challenging than GMAT verbal. Lot of difficult vocabulary words, complex sentence corrections involving 3 blanks, and tricky reading comprehension questions. The math is a lot easier, but i mismanaged my time early on and made a few careless mistakes.

My GMAT is this upcoming tuesday. This is by far the more important exam, so hopefully it will go well.

Update: I took my GMAT this past week and got a 740: 48 quant, 44 verbal. I'm a bit disappointed since i was shooting for 760, but it's a good enough score that i don't have to retake it.

I'm wondering if i should submit both scores to schools. I've heard mixed thoughts on this.

Use the GMAT/GRE concordance table and send whichever score is higher. Sending both isn't necessary.
