See the attached image. The position of Submarine B from Submarine A is 3,000 yards. So, if Submarine B moves North or West, its distance from Submarine A would be less than 3,000 yards. However, if it moves to South or East, the distance would be greater than 3,000 yards, greater than the range, which is not wanted.

The correct answer: E
