Ans:

The book says that [spoiler]"String" is used here as a single collective noun.[/spoiler]
I thought that "String of burglaries" is the subject. Can you please assist?
7) There is, according to my doctor, many courses of treatment available to me.
My approach is as follows:
Subject: Many courses of treatment
Verb: There is
First I flip the sentence:
Many courses of treatment ARE available to me, according to my doctor.
Then I again re-arrange the sentence:
There ARE, according to my doctor, many courses of treatment available to me.
This is the answer mentioned in the book as well. Is this approach of mine correct? Thank for your help.
