stripped sides of a square

A tailor trims 4 feet from opposite edges of a square piece of cloth, and 5 feet from the other two edges.If 120 square feet of cloth remain,what was the length of a side of the original piece of cloth?
A.12
B.20
C.24
D.26
E.40

I am not getting the equation after stripping the sides.

Intial square side = x

4 are trimmed from one edge so reduction in length = 8
5 are trimmed from another so reduction in breadth = 10

New rectangle sides L = (x-8)
B= (x-10)

Area = (x-8) (x-10) = 120

Now, we can solve the quadratic equation, however faster would be to backtrack.

So B fits the answer.
