1) x > 7 => x will be greater than 7. so this will not change the median which is (6+7)/2 = 6.5 hence suff.
2) mean of six numbers is equal to median.
=> median = (31+x)/6 = 5 + (1+x)/6
seeing this i get x can be 5,8,11,14...
the given conditions after substituting various x's works only when x = 8
hence suff.
