State University - HELP!!

Expert replies

Speaker X: I'm afraid I won't be able to get into State University.

Speaker Y: Relax, Sate university's brochure states that no one will be accepted after May 1, So just make sure that your application is received before then, and you'll definitely be accepted.

Which of the following lines of reasoning is LEAST similar to that contained in Speaker Y's reply?

a) The professor states that any one who failed to submit a term paper would fail the course. I submitted a term paper. Therefore, I will pass the course.

b) Overwatering a house plant is sure to kill it. Since I never overwater my house plants, they should never die.

c) Any employee who is detected falsifying time records will be fired. Since Mary is scrupulously honest about her time card, she will never be fired.

d) Every time it snows the sky is cloudy and weather is cold. Today the weather is warm and the sky is clear, so we won't have snow.

e) Anyone who attends every class will pass the course. Evan did not attend every class. Therefore, Evan will not pass the course.
OA is D
could somebody please guide me for such questions where "similar reasoning" needs to be identified... I get them wrong often.
Could also somebody please post a few link of such questions for additional practice :)
