Speed-reading and the GMAT

Many students have come to us complaining that they understand the reading passages, but they feel bogged down by time, which later affects their sentence correction and critical reasoning questions. We get it.

RC is a bitch. Excuse my French.

Sometimes you're lucky and get a passage that is relatively interesting. But that shouldn't matter. No one is taking you out for a beer afterwards to discuss it.

What matters is that you go INTO the GMAT, and are ready to rock. Ready to do what it takes to answer the questions with ease and comfort in the time alloted, and not feel rushed. Ergo: we created a great program that combines speed reading with GMAT test-taking strategy and positive mindset. And the results are even better than we anticipated.

We're happy to report the results are kick ass: an average of 13% point improvement on RC performance.

The take away. If you're in NYC or somewhere we teach this class. COME. take it. But any speed reading course will fare well enough as long as you understand what the Reading Comp requires of you. How to read the questions correctly and how to know a bogus answer (well, 4 bogus answers) when you see it.

Remember: the RC is not only to demonstrate your reading prowess: it's a metaphor of HOW you'll read as a business professional - - which is not all that unlike that of a lawyer -- meaning, you need to catch the meaning, read between the lines, be able to know what is left out, etc. A solid speed reading course will provide you with skills so you comprehend twice as much with twice the speed.
