We can let r = the speed of the car, and thus 1.5r = the speed of the train. Since the actual travel time of the train (i.e., not including the stopping time) is 12.5/60 = 25/120 = 5/24 hour less than the travel time of the car, we can create the equation:

75/r = 75/(1.5r) + 5/24

Multiplying the equation by 24r, we have:

1800 = 1200 + 5r

600 = 5r

120 = r

Answer: C
