Spanish

by AnjaliOberoi » Mon May 12, 2014 2:04 am
Deborah Aguiar-Velez, founder of sistemas corporation, has written a computer textbook in Spanish for people who speak Spanish and so then do not have to rely on translations from English.

A. for people who speak Spanish and so then
B. for people who speak Spanish, and then they
C. for people speaking Spanish who
D. so that people who speak Spanish
E. so that people can speak Spanish and then.

OA C, but i feel that answer should be D

Can someone please justify that why the answer is C

There's a meaning gap

{C} people who do not have to rely on translations from English--> this points to a specific group of people who speak Spanish & do not want to rely on translations

{D} people who speak Spanish --> this is actually pointing to all the people who speaks spanish.

The OA is wrong. (The best answer is D.) The sentence is about WHY Deborah has written the computer textbook: "so that" is entirely appropriate, while "for" only describes the intended audience (and not the reason the textbook was written).

Note that D still isn't a perfect answer (though it doesn't have to be): "people who speak Spanish" is wordy and computer textbooks aren't all in English.
