Something I wanted to share...

by sankruth » Thu Feb 21, 2008 2:11 am
I took my GMAT 3 weeks ago and was not too happy with the score. So decided to have another crack at it. Yesterday, I started my prep with OG11 Diagnostic test and what did I find??? An argument that appeared in my test!! Exactly the same, barring the proper nouns. Perhaps the question asked was different but I cannot be certain. I remember it because I struggled with it in the test.

Im not going to reveal anything more else Eric will admonish me! All I want to say is practice the OG as best as you can. In other words, when doing the OG, do not focus merely on getting the correct answer but also on individual bits like -
- Checking if you identified the premise and conclusion correctly.
- Evaluating each answer choice and finding what it does to the argument.

Hi Sankruth,

Don’t be dissappointed. You can give GMAT again.
All the american university take only the highest score of all attempts.
Why don’t you write a debrief. It will be helpful if you can put all your learnings.
The couple you have mentioned is really useful.

Hi Sankruth,
Good luck with the preparation. I've been saying since I took the test that of the 78 questions I was given I could've easily identified at least 30 questions in the OG guides that were similar with minute changes. In Quant, the changes were merely numbers, signs or inequality changes. In Verbal the essential concept and structure of the argument or passages again are very similar.
I'm glad you've recognized this, far too many people don't pay attention to the Official Guides and the Official software. You're already a step ahead of them.
