On January 1, 2004 two new societies, SI and S2, are formed, each with n members. On the first day of each subsequent month, S1 adds b members while S2 multiplies its current number of members by a constant factor r. Both the societies have the same number of members on July 2, 2004. If b =10.5n, what is the value of r?

a) 2.0
b) .9
c) 1.8
d) 1.7
e) 1.5

On,July 2004,
6 months have been over.
S1= n + 6b
S2= n x r^6
Since,S1 = S2

n + 6b = n x r^6
Now, putting b=10.5n
n + 63n = n x r^6
=> 64 = r^6
r=2 A.
