Sorry - I didn't realize the square root sign was eliminated from my cut and paste. Eitherway, the full question is below.
Is x > y?
(1) sq rt (x) > y
(2) x3 > y
Is x > y?

sqrt(x)>y
x=16,y=2,x>y
x=1/4,y=1/3,x<y

x cannot be -ve as sqrt(x) wont hold.x cannot be fraction as stmt1 fails.
