Most business programs, including MS programs in Finance and Financial Engineering, prefer applicants to take the GMAT. You might consider taking the GMAT instead of the GRE as not many MBA or MS programs in business currently accept the GRE in lieu of the GMAT. For those that do accept the GRE, there has not been much evidence that they are look for the subject tests or that taking a subject test will add value to your application. If you did not have any quantitative coursework in college, then the Math Subject Test might be a way to demonstrate quantitative aptitude, but there is no current evidence to suggest you would need the subject test in addition to the core quantitative section of the GRE or GMAT.

There is no evidence that supports a GRE subject test will add value to your application--but none that suggests it won't either. Since most MBA programs are not familiar with these subject tests, it is hard to gauge how much impact, if any, it will make. If you did not do well on the quantitative section of the GMAT and did not do well in quantitative coursework in college, then it might be worthwhile to take the exam to demonstrate aptitude. If you did do well in quant courses and score well on the quant section of the GMAT, then I am not sure you will see much of a return on your investment of time and money on the GRE subject test.
