Hi everyone

Should I sign up for a GMAT prep course?

I am planning to study MS in HRM in New York. The problem is that I am struggling with the GMAT and feel pretty much burned out. I have for the past 6 month prepared for the GMAT and now I feel that I don’t have discipline, motivation and energy enough to study for the GMAT.

Here in Denmark there no resources available such as prep classes, study group or other GMAT facilities. I am also forced to take the GMAT exam outside the country because no test centre provides the GMAT exam. I have also signed up for online course www.gmaxonline.com but without success.

On my first attempt I didn’t do well. Therefore, I am considering signing up for a GMAT prep course in NYC and give in the GMAT score after a have reached my appropriate score. Does anyone think that would be a good idea?

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Seems like you have already exhausted the self-study route. If you feel burnt out from self prep, then perhaps taking a course is a good idea. I urge you to take a look at the free MGMAT trial class that's happening next week to get a sense of what an online GMAT course could look like; I imagine MGMAT's course is quite different from the one you previously took with the other company.

Thanks for telling me about the Manhattan prep course for beatthegmat members. However, I am pretty sure that an online prep course will not be helpful enough for me. I think that a study partner, GMAT tutor or a study group would be more helpful for me. I need to learn every math concept from the beginning.
I have all the strategy guides from Manhattan GMAT. I find them very useful but it I feel that I am not making enough progress. It is very hard for me to only rely on the content of the strategy guides. There are still many concepts that I need to learn in order to think independently and avoid repeating mistakes especially in the quant part.
It must be lot easier for people from USA and India to study for the GMAT, because they have a lot more opportunities to help each other to get a high GMAT score.

Gringo, GMAT should be available in Copenhagen, did you check?

Yes I did. The test center in Copenhagen used to provide the GMAT exam but not any longer. I was contacted by Peason Vue, telling me that the test center in cph does not provide the exam any longer.
