OG 11 - Q20

Based on accounts of various ancient writers, scholars paintged .....

OG says that Based on is incorrect .... since it incorrectly modifies scholars ..

Using accounts of various ancient writers, scholars ....is correct ...

But, I encountered a similar question in 800Score test that says otherwise .....please help ...here is the question ...entire question is underlined

Based on a fossil bird found in the Yixian mountains of northern China, Chinese scientis have shown that bird feathers appear to have evolved from dinasaur scales well over 100 million yrs ago.

though all the other choices are not better than this, but I want to know whether this is right or wrong .... otherwise it'll be difficult when you have to choose the best answer ... I crossed this one off based on OG explaination

I'm appearing for GMAT on 8th, I'm scoring 26-34 in verbals ... on 800 score ... I have to reach 40 ..to score 700+ ..... any suggestion pls?

dear shahmau,

i already asked you to present a full problem with all options given. if its taken from a book or paper, state it.
but now as you said its from 800score, i think they must hv given you the options...
although i had solved og11 SC twice, it was quite ago. i dont hv the book right now.
REMEMBER, EVERY WORD AND EVERY PHRASE HAS SOME SPACE IN GMAT SC.
EVEN FOR NOTORIOUS ONE:'BEING'

The only confusion is between A and E.

Somehow, I am not clear about the subtle differences between the two.

OA is E
