GPA 3.61(out of 5)
Indian Male
Work Experience - 3 years
Steel Industry

I did my b.tech in mining engineering from one of the premier institute in India. After that, I am working as mining engineer. Help me in shortlisting the b-school school list.
As i am from very diversified background(mining), will this help me in any way.


I have sent my score to -
University of Virginia
Indian School of Business
NUS, singapore
University of Chicago
Duke University
plz tell me whether I have any realistic chance of making it through to any of these schools?

Dear Vineet,

Your mining background should be an asset for you in the evaluation process as it is different from the norm for Indian engineers. Assuming you submit a strong application, you do have a chance at the schools you posted. I would say these schools are either reasonable or reach for you. If you want to add to your list, I would suggest identifying a safety program that you could submit an application to in R2.

Your highest GMAT score is what is used in your evaluation, so your previous attempt does not factor into your evaluation. The high GMAT will also mitigate your GPA if it is below the average for your target schools. Likewise, your essays, recommendations and interview will provide evidence of your verbal ability so that will mitigate concerns raised by your AWA.
