Hi Amit,

Thanks for your post. Unfortunately I don't think I can do much more than offer you some advice. Many US bschools frown upon applicants who already have an MBA. For some reason or another they find it difficult to understand why someone would spend their time and money getting an MBA only to seek another one from a US school down the road. As this is the case, I strongly encourage you to reach out directly to the admissions offices of the programs on your list and get their thoughts on your candidacy. This is the best way to be sure that your time and energy isn't spent on programs who aren't willing to take you given your already have one MBA degree.

Regards,

Stacey

Hi Stacey,
Thanks for your advice. I have already started discussing with some schools. All of them want me to justify for second MBA for which I have tons of reasons. Otherwise, how do you see my "profile fit" for a top 10 US MBA? Is there something which I can do to strengthen it?

Please advice.

Regds,
Amit

Hi,

Glad to hear you've been talking to the schools on your list. Yes, you can certainly be competitive (provided you get at least a 700 on your GMAT). You'll want to be sure to highlight not on your experience at the NGO (which will help distinguish you from the large IT pool). I'm guessing a large amount of your potential success is dependent on your justification for the 2nd MBA as well as why it's critical to achieve your short and long term goals.

Best of luck!

Hi Stacey,
Thanks again for the reply . It certainly helps refine my thought process . I am expecting anything between 720-750 in GMAT. What are the schools do you roughly think I should target at given my short term and long term goals( I know it is not that straight forward, am only asking for some rough estimation from your side?

Thanks once again for your help.

Thanks and Regards,
Amit

Hi Amit,

I'd take a look at top 15 US programs. Again, you'll want to reach out to each one individually before beginning your application to be sure they are open to a candidate who already has an MBA.
