First of all, I really like this idea. IMO, you should contact Adcom as soon as you are thinking about applying to business school. But since you're already past that point, I would go with both methods. First, I would send them an email. I would make it short, conversational and with an open-ended ...

Thanks

Definitely include that it is your top and only choice but make sure to back up your reasons for only applying to one school so as to sound sincere.

How many schools to apply to? The answer is very specific to your situation. For instance, I only applied to 3 schools because: 1. I didn't want to apply to safety schools (or go) 2. I only had time to focus on a few applications 3. I wanted to gain an advantage by showing schools they were my top c...

Not visiting school won't hurt your chances but it won't help either. The more you can show and not just tell (through your essays) the better chance you have of getting accepted. For instance, I not only visited for my interview but also went and stayed at the school - I slept on my friend's couch ...

I would DEFINITELY go with admissions person over an alum. The admissions consultant IS one of the people who will be deciding on your application so you want to talk to the source. If you can get this adcom person on your side and get them to become your champion; someone who will fight for your ad...

Just email them and get talk to them on the phone. Email is not as friendly a medium as the phone, esp. when explaining something like this, so try to set something up to talk.

You can do whatever you want to do :) Will it impact your likelihood of getting accept and do you have to notify the MBA programs? No. Although, if you're not transitioning into another job, you might wait until after your interview so that you don't have to answer questions about your current job i...
