search criterion - I'm Feeling Lucky

by arora007 » Tue Jun 22, 2010 9:53 am
Dear Owners of BTG, i am still getting accustomed to the pretty neatly prepared website, with its rich content.

One thing i most use on the website is the forum, and I use it to reconfirm my answers and see any discussions.

I also see the search is google powered, can't we somehow switch on the "I'm Feeling Lucky" of google, which does not take me the list of results of the search (often there is only one matching search result , for eg: "The fields of antebellum")
but directly takes me to the most obvious search result.

If google provides it..i guess BTG can configure it too...it would help save one extra click.... it will also save time.

If i was to put in a requirement... by default the search works as it works today, if its switched on..then it works the way..."I am feeling lucky" works.
[this is how a simple requirement or a Software Change request is raised in my Industry. :-) ]

This is how GOOGLE , my potential recruiter post MBA puts it...

The "I'm Feeling LuckyTM" button automatically takes you to the first web page returned for your query.

An "I'm Feeling Lucky" search means less time searching for web pages and more time looking at them.

This is a neat suggestion--first time I've heard it from a community member! I'd be happy to investigate--we are using Google's site search for this website, so there might be a plugin to make this happen. Have to caveat though that this kind of feature would be much later in our development pipeline, since we have so many big features we're releasing this summer. But really appreciate the suggestion!
