But the universities post the median score as 600/650/690, and the students experience range from 2-4 yrs mostly.
With 5+ yrs experience will there be not a consideration for low GMAT score ?

The work experience will help you, but, I agree with the previous poster, that a 530 GMAT score will still be a challenge for you to overcome (at the schools you mentioned). If you have a successful track record at work and want an MBA, you might be best suited for a part-time MBA program or an executive MBA program (although those are usually geared for candidates with 8+ years of experience). A part-time program might be a little easier to get in to and part-time programs will put more emphasis on your work experience.

Remember, it is important for you to find a school that is a good fit for you. Research programs and look at the scores, work experience and GPAs. If the average profile is 3 years of work experience and 700 GMATs then you aren't the right fit for that school and it would be a waste of time to apply.

If you have your heart set on a full-time program, there are some things you can do to try and mitigate your low GMAT score. First, LORs will be very important for you. Particularly with 5 years of experience - it WILL be your work experience that sets you apart so you will want glowing reviews from your recommenders. You can also take a few classes at a community or local college. Getting great grades in a corporate finance or statistics course will show that you have the brain power to succeed in a rigorous academic environment. While these things will not erase a 530, they may put you in the running for a decent school!

a week back i got 530 (39,24)

I completed OG,Kaplan, practiced 1000SC, practiced 4GMAT MATH books(especially formulas).

I took following practice tests:
GMATprep : 650 and 590.
Manhattan: 580.
princeton : 560.

I am aiming for 600+.

what should i prepare further to improve ?

pls help.. I am planning to take GMAT on last week of october.

I don't have a magic formula for improving GMAT scores. It sounds like you have already done a great deal to prepare. Now, it just takes practice (but good test taking tips may help you as well!). Using a forum like beat the gmat will help. It is just hard to improve a score more than 100 points. And, some very smart people are just not great test takers so don't beat yourself up too much.

I think extra classes are the best thing to do so that you have another way to show your aptitude if you aren't able to improve your score to the level you are hoping.

I specialize in working with non-traditional applicants, many of whom have out-of-range GMAT scores. I agree with everything Jessica has said.

I would encourage you to expand your notion of what a "good" B-school is as well. For example, Babson in Boston is consistently ranked highly for a variety of reasons, many times Entrepreneurship. (See here: https://mba.babson.edu/info/rankings.aspx). Their average GMAT score is 600-640. You are still out of that range, but not by far. I would highly recommend their MBA program and that you apply to other schools like this one. You can go to business school this year or next year, but you are going to need to write some stellar essays, your LOR are going to need to rock (like Jessica said), and you need to apply to a good number of programs (5-7 or up to 15 if you're feeling zealous) where your profile matches their typical admits.
