Scaling Conversion

I'm not sure what you mean by out of a 60??? Could you elaborate??

Most posters respond with their 3-digit gmat score and also post breakdowns for the respective Quant and Verbal sections out of 60.

For example, a score of 770 correlated to a 50Q and 46V. However, this is not the raw score of questions they answered correct (i.e. quant has 37 questions, and verbal has 41.)

Therefore, I was wondering if there was any chart available that linked the raw to the scaled score.

Please, correct me if I am interpretting this completely erroneously.

lefty, there is no such chart as far as i know. the gmat uses a complex scoring algorithm to calculate your score. to make matters worse, there are several ungraded questions that do not affect your score at all.

you shouldnt be concentrating on the # of questions right (i.e. raw score). instead focus on taking full length practice tests like gmat preptest and mgmat, and look at your scaled scores on these tests.

I agree with everything shadow stated in his post. Don't focus on the number of questions that you get correct on a test because the scoring algorithm is much more complex.

It's a valid question...the only scale that you will see is your official score sheet the the folks who administer the test will send you after you take the test. it will show your percentiles and breakdown per section, but not per question nor on the number you got correct, etc. good luck and keep practicing, that is the only thing that matters!
