A is wrong as the present-perfect tense 'have developed' is used to represent an issue related to very past.
B and D are wrong as they wrongly represent the "calender stick" as the evidence of North American Indians instead of that of North American Indians' work
There is a tie between C and E.
I prefer "E" as there is an ambiguity about 'them' used in option "C"

C actually has a misplaced modifier. The participial phrase at the end ("basing them...") can modify the noun before the comma ("calendars") or the subject of the clause ("calendar stick"), neither of which makes sense.
