B - 'he was coordinated' implies Jimi was coordinated with basslines and drumming patterns. But the meaning is 'SOLOS WERE COORDINATED WITH..'

C - COORDINATED ...AND CREATED. Connecting the two verbs with AND, we get a feeling that COORDINATED and CREATED are independent action, but fact is CREATION HAPPENS WHEN SOLOS ARE COORINDTAED WITH..

D - COORDINATED WITH.. is the opening modifier modifying JIMI. It appears 'Jimi was coordinated'

E - by making the modifier OPENING MODIFIER sentence makes the sequence of events clearer (unlike A. In A - MAIN VERB is so far from MAIN SUBJECT that we are not sure what the main subject of the verb CREATED and we are also not very clear whether Jimi was able to create songs while COORDINATING SOLOS WITH BASSLINES AND DRUMMING.

The original is a run-on sentence ("always coordinating them with basslines and drumming patterns created some of the best songs ever")

C is awkward (specifically having the pronoun "them" refer to a noun located in a prepositional phrase)

D has a modifier error; it wasn't Jimi Hendrix that was coordinated with...

B and E are the two best options. I do not like how E has two modifying phrases ("in his guitar solos" and "always coordinating...") consecutively. The awkward pronoun use (as in C) occurs as well.

B is okay. It avoids the awkward use of "them" by using a relative clause ("which...") instead. However, the meaning is a bit odd. If we slash and burn the relative clause, we have:

In his guitar solos, Jimi Hendrix created some of the best songs ever.

Some of the best songs ever were created in his guitar solos? Doesn't seem quite right to me. E has the same problem, though.

I could not understand how A is run-on: IMO both Jimi (Subj) and CREATED (Verb)is available.

A run-on typically has multiple subjects and verbs; a fragment lacks one or the other.

After looking at it further, A does not meet the classic definition of a run-on: multiple independent clauses connected improperly. However, it is still exceedingly awkward. If we slash and burn the prepositional phrase, we have:

Jimi Hendrix always coordinating them with basslines and drumming patterns created some of the best songs ever.

Ugh.
