IMO answer is between A and B.

I remember something like, when you don't have any reference to pronoun its better to choose he/she/they rather than him/her/their.

So IMO A.
When you think you can or you cannot, you are generally correct.

none is a type of indefinite pronoun which can be either singular or plural.
we have to focus on the "of" construction which usually follows the pronoun.

the sentence above can be written as -
"Of the eight members of the jazz band, none (of them) were more fraught with stage fright than she (was).

here we have to use "were" as "them" is plural.

hence IMO D.

I go with A.

B. her --> No referrent.
C. were --> None is singular.
D. none --> Singular
E. then --> is wrong.

This is based on my knowledge. To look at "None" to be singluar or plural we need to see the "of" construction. Here there is no "of them" construction/i am not sure whether to consider implied "of" construction.

Can some expert comment.

The correct answer according to 800 score is (A):

the proper pronoun is "she" , because the verb "was" is understood to continue the end of the sentence : "none was more fraught with stage fright than she (was)"
