a pronoun modifying a gerund must be in the possessive case. the pronoun is "his" (for "he", since it must be in the possessive case, it is "his").
The gerund is "having".

"have" or "to have" is a verb.

"having" is used as noun i.e... a verb that acts as a noun is a gerund.

So you can eliminate B, D, E.

"having to be going away" is awkwardly written and redundant. Also, usually with a gerund the infinitive form of the verb is used such as "to go" rather than "to be going". So you can eliminate C.

It is correct as it is written. The answer is A.

This is a better explanation
In contrast with the way he argued with his parents, Jonas was actually quite happy about his having to go away to camp for the summer.
A. his having to go away to camp for the summer.
B. him having to go away to camp for the summer.
C. his having to be going away to camp for the summer.
D. himself having to go away to camp for the summer.
E. him having to be going away to camp for the summer.
The differences among the answers here are his / him / himself and to go / to be going

So it's how this works

Jonas was actually quite happy about his having ...
Jonas was actually quite happy about him having ...
Jonas was actually quite happy about himself having ...

Jonas is happy because he's going to camp for the summer. So he's happy about "his having to go ..." - the whole clause, not about "him" or "himself"

We eliminate B D E. Between A & C. I choose A because being is not necessary & being is not prefered to normal verb too
