As can be used to connect two indipendent clause...

B... insofar is useless..
C.. being is not correct in the context.. adverb widely should be before very anticipated...
D.. It says transportation replaced horses .. nopes automobile is replacing horses..
E.. replacing... seems to say that replacement is going on.... not correct...

As automobiles replaced horses as the primary means of transportation, it was widely anticipated that
(Good; "as" indicates the two events occurred at the same time, and "widely anticipated" is correct)

Insofar as automobiles replaced horses as the primary means of transportation, it was anticipated widely
("Insofar" means "to the extent", which does not work for indicating simultaneous events)

With horses being replaced by automobiles as the primary means of transportation, there was wide anticipation that
(the use of "being" in this context (discussing two past-tense events) does not work)

As the primary means of transportation replaced horses with automobiles, many anticipated that
(Makes it sound like the "primary means" chose to replaced horses with automobiles, which is nonsensical)

Automobiles replacing horses as the primary means of transportation produced anticipation widely that
(it was the anticipation that was wide, not the production)
