Please comment, if the below sentence is correct with respect to GMAT :

Mother Teresa's service to the poor of all religions and relentless effort to improve the hospitals in India have been recognized by both government and civilian organizations.

well honestly i do not see a problem in the above sentence...

I feel that the above sentence is correct. Parallel and a perfect use of the apostrophe...

IMO the sentence is correct.

1) Parallelism is maintained
2) we use AND.. so its plural.. hence "have been" is correct.

And what about this,

Mother Teresa's service to the poor of all religions and her relentless effort to improve the hospitals in India have been recognized by both government and civilian organizations.

Received a PM asking me to comment:

In both cases, the parallelism is fine.

In the first sentence we are talking about "service" and "effort". These are both "action-y" nouns so this is perfectly parallel.

In the second sentence, the inclusion of "her" doesn't really change much as the first element could just as easily be "Mother Teresa's service" and "her effort" but at the end of the day those possessives are just modifying the nouns "service" and "effort", which are parallel!
