IMO A

maintains ||ism in the use of "is a result of.. and of.. "

in B i find bird itself.. a lil awkward..

I found B the closest option to a correct answer..

A.the sandpipers vanishing in the northeastern United States is a result of residential and industrial development and of changes in- Like the grassy fields and old pastures, the sandpipers vanishing is wrong because 1) an apostrophe is needed ‘’sandpipers’ vanishing’’ 2) compares grassy fields and old pastures with sandpipers’ vanishing . Two side must be logically paralel. Out-

I did not get this sentence. Fields and pastures are compared with bird...how can we compare two non similar things. Also Manhattan SC guide says always compare similar things.

This questions still not clear at all to me . Can some one please explain it to me?

grassy fields, pastures are vanishing due to residential and industrial devlopment

sandpipers also are vanishing due to residential and industrial development.

they are similar as they are vanishing due to the same reasons.

To understand the sentence remove .that .. Argentine Pampas and read as Like the grassy fields and old pastures,
very well explained I must say....but there is one doubt in this.
In option A, why isn't 'the sandpipers' taken as the plural of sandpiper and why is it ruled out because of the missing apostrophe? It is very well possible to address the sandpipers in a plural form and the sentence then sounds correct...any views anyone?

Thanks,
Vivek.
