among should be used while comparing/referring to more than 2 things. Here the stmt mentions 5 nations and hence among.

"Oneida... among the 5 nations... sided" sided is the verb and hence you do not need any other verb.

There is a verb "were"...anyway, I was totally wrong. Should be C. In D, "were the only ones~" should be corrected since the subject is not a plural...

In A the Pronoun has ambigious antecedant (who refers to the Oneida or five nations) ...

Answer C correctly points to the Oneida..

A - "who"
B - they refers to whom?
C - correct
D - were cannot refer to "The onedia"
E - "had" + "only" sounds awkward

I pick C. 'the five-nation league' and 'the five-nations of the league', the latter has the clear and precise meaning. So the perspective choices are C and D. I don't like D, because of both the plural and no presence of any activity in the main clause. The common sense is 'influnced then do something', not 'influnced then be something'
