A and E are out, because they do not have proper sentence structure.
B is awkward and has misplasced modifier - he
From D and C i choose C ,because of the correct use of past tences : first past perfect, then simple past.
C is the answer.

Can you please explain why B is awkward?
I had chosen B over C, because "the maestro had finished the concert" in B is in active voice, and "the convert had been finished" in C is in passive.
