I have some question in order to clear my concept:

Is this comparison correct?

1) The look of my friend has changed a lot than he was in childhood.

2) The population of town has decreased now than it was in 1990.


Please help me to clear my concept !!

i doubt if ur sentences are legitimate .well i feel 2nd is logically wrong .particularly "decrease now than" is wrong construction " u can decrease from some datum point but not the way this expression describes
also in 1st statement i feel "changed a lot than" is wrong

No, these are both wrong. "Than" is typically used in comparisons, in conjunction with a comparative term like "more", "less", bigger", "slower", etc. Neither of your sentence pairs "than" with a comparative term like that.

These would work:

1) My friend's look has changed more in the last year than it did in his entire childhood.

2) The population of the town is much lower now than it was in 1990.
