There is a comparision issue in both option A and option B. In A -- we cannot compare male and female warblers to other species. IN B - we cannot compare Genders to other species.

In C- same, comparision issues.

D -- pretty awkward sentece.

Option E should be the answer. Blue Winged warblers [ a species of warblers -- compared to -- other species of warblers

I do not know why you guyzz are saying that option C is having comparison issues.

Option C has a proper comparison usage.

'Unlike those in most warbler species, the male and female blue-winged arblers are very difficult to distinguish.' Here the pronoun 'those' represents the male and female in warbler species.

In option E there is ambigious 'that' and 'it' as the pronoun.

it is not having a clear referent and same goes for 'that'.

Even you take 'in that' as a thing to compare, still 'it' is not having a clear referent.

Plus, the phrase, 'to tell the male and the female apart' is a perfect alternative to 'to distinguish the male from the female'.
