Dear robk100,

The applications do not usually ask for salary history, but will ask for current salary. The reason the applications ask for current base salary and bonus is for reporting reasons--most rankings want the average salary of a class prior to entering business school and then the average salary of the same class upon graduation as a way to measure the "value" of the degree. Some schools might ask for the salary history, and you are always free to disclose your salary history, as a means of showing progression when job titles might not have changed over many years.

another question about salary history

Does the amount of your salary affect the way business schools view a candidate? Does a higher salary equate to someone who is more qualified for business school? Or a lower salary make someone look less attractive? Or is the salary question strictly for measuring the "value" of the mba degree? Thank you for your help.

It is strictly for reporting purposes. The salary is not used as an evaluative tool.
