Right Time to apply for MBA

by pratyushjalan » Sun Jun 19, 2011 5:49 pm
Hi everyone,

I need suggestions on whether I should apply for an MBA right now. My profile: I am currently working with Microsoft as a Software Engineer for the past 7 months. I graduated in May 2010 from Cornell University with a Bachelors degree. I am planning on applying for the class of 2012 but I am not sure whether B-schools would consider my application considering that I would have only a years work experience at the time of my application.

Thank you.

Applicants with engineering backgrounds typically have around 3-6 years full-time work experience by the time they enter, with most having around 4-5 years. Your chances are slim at this point -- continue building up a few more years of experience before applying. Not only will you be a stronger candidate, but you'll be able to get more out of the experience as well while in school.
