Dear Lisa,

I will be applying for an MBA in the coming months of September and October. My profile is as follows:

Age: 24 years

Nationality: Indian

CGPA: Around 4

Gmat Score: 670

Work Experience: 18months

Company Name: Infosys Technologies Limited.

In project related work, I mentored a junior in my project.

I have lead a project team at the college level

Had initiated first ever corporate sports tournament in Infosys, which was organized by the employees without any external help. Lead a team of 40 people in organizing the event. Was the youngest in the team. Got an Infosys wide award from organizing the same.

Captain of Infosys Basketball Team. We have won 4 prestigious championships under my captaincy.

I am a part time DJ; I play for clubs during the weekends

I have a paragliding license

Currently learning Japanese language

Judged projects in a National Level Engineering Project Competition.

Currently Authoring a book (can explain the details if required). It’s on management.

This is my current profile. I will be adding a few more things to this:
1. Community Service
2. A good financial course

I will supplement the week points in my resume, researching on how to write good essays and also I have my senior managers, who will be giving me recommendations.

I request you to please have a look at my profile and give an honest
opinion on where I stand and on what improvements you think I should bring into my resume.

Target Schools are :

2. Yale
3. Cornell
4. UCLA
5. Duke
6. ISB (Indian School Of Business)

Dear Yash,

Those schools are all possibilities for you. However, you will not gain admission at any of them if you are unable to make a compelling case and distinguish yourself effectively. Your education and work experience is the same as the majority of the other MBA applicants from India to any school. As such, you will need to find a way to stand out and might want to consider retaking your GMAT. It could be helpful to get your score up into the 700s as that will help to balance your limited work experience and is more desirable for these schools. Even with a higher GMAT, it is still critical to have a solid overall application package.

Best of luck,
Lisa
