AJWILL wrote:what is the range of positive integers 0,3,5,10,17,x and y?

1)x+y=17
2)x-y=3

1. x + y = 17---- sufficient
this means x or y is less than 17 since we are dealing with positive integers
the range = smallest (0) to the largest (17)

2. x-y = 3 -- not sufficent
x can be 25 and y can be 22 or
x can be 10 and y can be 7

But my point is the zero is a neutral number NOT positive !!

if in a set of -2,-1,0,1,2,3

we r asked to calculate the range for positive integers, the answer will be 3-1=2 and not 3-0=3!!
Right?

You are correct. This is bad writing. Should be non-negative numbers.
