When 10 is divided by the positive
integer n, the remainder is n -4.
Which of the following could be the
value of n?
(A) 3 (B) 4 (C) 7
(D) 8 (E) 12

Going by options,

10 div by 7 gives a remainder of 3 ie. n-4 (7-4=3)

Thus, ans is (C)

Although there is an algebraic approach I'm sure, for this question the best(and fastest) why would be to simply plug in answers. I like to start with C (that why I know whether to increase or decrease)

So lets see:
C. 10/7 = 1 + Remainder of 3
7-4= 3 we already have a match! Choose C
