Regarding Work Experience

I'm planning on studying my master's degree in marketing at DePaul university in Chicago. I looked through the requirements in the application and it asks about my work experience.

Most students who have applied at DePaul have atleast a 2years of full-time work experience.

To be honest, I have no full-time work experience at all! I do however have part-time experience which lasted for 3months..lol!
I contacted the admission regarding about it, and the lady told me: if I'm applying as part-time (which i am), work experience is not required!

I do however plan on studying and working at the same time if I get accepted to DePaul!

The GMAT score that is required for DePaul University is 500 and above. The average last year was 550 and I wanna try my best to score higher than that!

However i'm still concerned that the lack of work experience in my application may take in affect.
Any suggestions?

Hi,

Since you're applying to do it part-time, and the school does not require work experience for part-time applicants, I don't think this will be an issue for you. Working on your GMAT rather than trying to make up for any gaps in your professional history may be more fruitful.

Hi BBJ,

I agree with jelt that clearly the lack of work experience is not an issue if the school confirmed that it is fine. I would concentrate on the GMAT and preparing the rest of your application.

Good luck!

Thanks guyz, i appreciate it!
but i just realized that one of the essays that i have to answer relates to work experience...
"In the competitive world of commerce, where profit is a top priority, one can lose sight of the importance and need for ethical decision-making and business practices. Please describe an instance in your professional career in which you were faced with or involved in an ethical dilemma. How did you choose to address the issue? Were you pleased with the end result? How do you think that the situation could have been handled differently? "

lol :( I guess i can only talk about the part-time job that i've worked

Hi BBJ,

You may have a situation that could work in either school or volunteer/extracurriculars.

Good luck!
