by nikhil007 » Tue Nov 11, 2008 3:21 am

MY EXTRA CIRICULUM is good. ONE YEAR OF WORK EXPERIENCE AS I TOOK
DROP FOR ONE YEAR DURING MY UG. but only one factor that holds me back is low GPA.
DO YOU THINK HBS 2+2 IS WORTH TRYING?

The HBS 2+2 program requires students to be able to meet the academic challenges of the HBS MBA. Your GPA and GMAT should demonstrate your academic strength. You did not mention how low your GPA is however if it is significantly lower than the median HBS GPA then you may not be a competitive applicant. That said, it is worth mentioning if there were external circumstances that contributed to your low GPA.

You need to show that you can handle the academic rigor of HBS either through a high GPA or GMAT - preferably both. You should also demonstrate that you are a well rounded student by discussing any extracurricular hobbies/interests you have. Also, be able to clearly articulate why HBS 2+2 is the best option for you.

It sounds like you can clearly articulate your goals and reasons for pursuing an MBA You also need score well on the GMAT (look at HBS class profile to get an idea of the competitive range) and make sure you adhere to pertinent deadlines. There are two key application dates for Summer 2009:

Application Submission: 7/1/09 (5 p.m. EST)
Admissions Notification: 9/15/09
