I have heard from a close friend that if you apply to a school and you are not accepted, it is harder to get accepted the second time you apply even if you improve your application and your gmat score. My First thought is that this remark is all speculation, is there any true behind this statment?

Dear Eric,

Great question! The remark is speculation. However, it is true that you need to have improved your application from the previous year. If you apply with no changes to your application (same essays, same recs, same resume), then you will be viewed negatively. Schools do compare the old application to the new one and it is important for you to show improvement and that you addressed the concerns the admissions committee had on your application.
