slope of a line............tan @ = p/b

Tan angle is negative for quadrant II and IV

that is absolute anle is obtuse with respect to Positive X axis....

Hence it would always pass through....II quadrant

Remember that if the Slope is positive then the rise over run (Y/X) is positive i.e sloping upwards from left to right.

And if the slope is negative, then the rise over run (Y/X) is negative - as Y increases, X decreases or vice versa. Such a line will slope upwards from right to left.

In this q. the slope is negative and hence the line will slope upwards from right to left. So its bound to intersect Quad 2 ..hence A)

B) Given the intercept value - just tells u where the line intersects the Y axis. That could even be for a line parallel to X axis and which might never intersect Quad 2.

-A
